The calendar says fall even if the weather doesn't (although at least we aren't still over 90 here in Williamsburg!) and I'm ready for fall outfits. I wanted thirty to be the year where I discovered my personal style and then promptly got into the busy season at work and ended up reaching for the same things over and over. SO I'm planning ahead for fall so I can have some outfit formulas ready to grab and go when I am inevitably running late - a morning person, I am not. For this capsule, I leaned into some of the colors from my Light Summer color analysis results from Created Colorful, and while they may not be an exact match I think they are fairly close!

In the summer I am a dress girlie through and through - I love the simplicity and it helps to stay cool in the humid Virginia heat. But as soon as the temperature starts to drop all I want are sweaters, button-downs, and a good pair of jeans. I'm transitioning from dress season with a few skirts of varying lengths for warmer days, including a pencil-length denim skirt. I keep seeing so many cute videos and pictures of women wearing midi or ankle-length denim skirts and they look amazing, but I don't feel as comfortable in them. I'm working my way up to it with this in-between: longer than I would usually wear but something I still feel looks cute on me!

I picked up a great brown henley sweater from Created Colorful's fall capsule post and I am so excited. A good, cool brown is one of the hardest for me to distinguish, especially when it comes to shopping online but this top should go with a majority of the items in my closet. I'm also dipping my toe into pattern mixing here with the striped shirt and floral/medallion print skirts. A belt, especially a textured or woven one, should break it up nicely and be good for tucking anything oversized. Plus, I'm a millennial and we love a tuck! Gen Z was right about bottoms though - I do not miss my skinny jeans.

Remember those blue/green pants? Neither did I. I'm going to have to keep brainstorming the best way to work those into the rotation. BUT I do love them paired here with the Periwinkle polo sweater. It's not a color combo I would have considered before but it looks fun and fresh. I'm so excited to see these outfit ideas come to life in the coming weeks and to ring in the fall weather in style!
